Ms. Cupcake: Vegan Diet Educator and “Free-From” Baker Extraordinaire

Ms. Cupcake

When Mellissa Morgan, a.k.a. Ms. Cupcake, first moved to London from Canada, she was astonished. Vegan-friendly treats were surprisingly hard to come by. She decided to remedy that by taking the batter into her own hands, baking vegan treats from her home kitchen.

After testing the waters at local food markets, she opened up shop in 2011. Thus, London’s first entirely vegan bakery, Ms. Cupcake was born! She offers vegan cupcakes, layer cakes, cookies, squares, sandwiches and savoury treats. Many are gluten free, too.

Today, Melissa is busier than ever. After being named the Baking Industry Awards Rising Star in 2011, in 2013 she released her first cookbook, Ms. Cupcake: The Naughtiest Vegan Cakes in Town. She’s now working on a second book, while running her award-winning store, which bagged “Best Independent Grocery Retailer” at the 2016 Dot London Awards.

Ms. Cupcake takes pride in producing delicious free from cakes and desserts for all to enjoy, but they also have a bigger purpose – to educate. Their staff strive to be ambassadors for vegan diets and lifestyles. They don’t just sell treats, they also work hard to educate people in their community on how to create vegan treats themselves at home.
