Mindful Bites – Encouraging Us to Snack Consciously

Mindful Bites

Do you ever find yourself sitting at your desk, looking into an empty crisp packet wondering where all the crisps went? Or settling down to watch a film only to realise you’ve already wolfed down all the popcorn?

Whether it’s due to boredom, anxiety or simply running on autopilot, most of us are guilty of mindless eating at some stage or other (or, in my case, at least once per day!). Mindful Bites are an innovative brand trying to put an end to all that.

What is Mindfulness?

As one of the biggest buzzwords of the last few years, you’ve undoubtedly caught wind of the ‘mindfulness’ movement. But what exactly does it mean to be mindful? And how does it relate to the foods we snack on each day?

In a nutshell, to be mindful is to be aware of our thoughts and feelings as we experience them in the present moment.

Stephanie Peritore is the founder of Mindful Bites. She believes that this psychological practice can begin with the food we eat.

Mindful eating involves paying full attention to the food and drink we consume. It means taking notice of the appearance, aroma and mouthfeel as we eat or drink. The nutritional composition and how we feel once we’ve finished is also as important.

Graze on the Good Stuff

Founded on the concept of mindfulness, Mindful Bites have created a range of snacks intended to reframe our thoughts around eating. Mindful eating tunes us back into our actions and to the here and now. A good thing for all us snackaholics!

Inspired by research in nutrition and behavioural sciences, they’ve developed a line of premium nut butters and ‘crunchy bites’. These snacks have been designed to encourage us to eat slowly and pay closer attention to taste and texture.

Mindful Bites have paired health-promoting yet indulgent ingredients with expertly crafted textures. The snacks release their flavours gradually and stimulate the senses in the process.

The nutrient-rich products are blended with superfoods like baobab and maca for an added health boost. The whole range is free from gluten and refined sugar and is suitable for vegans. What’s more, the ingredients are all ethically-sourced and planet-friendly too!

Want to try them for yourself? Mindful Bites are available from various health food stores including Whole Foods UK. They’re also available online from the Mindful Bites website.
